Driven by a passion dating back to childhood, Miami native, born May 28th 1986 to ( Haitian )father Yves & mother Louise Rodney was first introduced to her musical talent at the tender age of 5, after being assigned a solo piece in a song that would be sang at her preschool graduation. Her teacher discovered that she had a gift that should be heard and expressed to her mother the importance of honing & nurturing it. Like most kids she was initially in to her parent’s favorite tunes However, thanks to her older brother eventually, she fell under the spell of R&B & Hip-Hop
The young singer got an early taste of the music industry in the 5th grade when given the opportunity to sing for Miami’s very own Ms. Betty Wright and her entire physical education class. Word immediately got back to her teacher, who then recommended auditioning for a magnet program at a local Performing Arts School. During that summer she did just that and got accepted. There she received training and experimented with music theory and by her teen years she penned her 1st song titled “Reminisce”.
Surprisingly, apart from her work in music there was an automatic attraction to modeling, acting as well as designing. In 1999, the songstress landed a lead role in a commercial for WNBA’s Miami Sol (former sister team to the Miami Heat) and since then she has featured in magazines such as Vogue, Flyy Girl and Hype Hair, appeared in the music videos for the likes of Sammie’s “I Like”, Flo rida“ Zoosk Girl” and T. Pain-ft Rick Ross “Rap Song” and has even starred in “THE WARNING”, A short film dedicated to HIV/AIDS awareness.
Her early experiences have served her well & though pleased with her accomplishments, this creative journey hasn't been an easy 1. One of the reasons to why she often turns to a beat, pen & pad to cope with her emotions. Whether singing about the mere pleasures of life or its calamities, the concepts behind her music are always relatable and known to dazzles the ears of its listeners “My music is my line of communication to the world, it’s my personal way of connecting with my supporters” the vocalist enthuses.
This multi-talented artist takes great pride in being different and illustrates her originality through song and fashion. Though known for lending her ear to just about anything that arouses her imagination, she credits artist such as Whitney Houston , Janet Jackson, and Chrisette Michele (Just to name a few) for the inspiration to pursue her passion. Her voice is a deep melodic, sultry-yet-vibrant sound that has been described as naturally rich and inviting with a commanding presence to match. .
